Life Changes

Sometimes it seems like it has taken an "unbearably" long time to get ready to convert to a new lifestyle; but actually, it was only June of 2013 when we impulsively purchased our Tiffin 34 TGA at the first RV show we had ever attended.  It then took merely a few ponderings for us to realize that this might indeed become a way of life in retirement.  Now, mind you, Chris was already a retired Teamster and had to wait for me to finish my teaching career.  He researched all the components of the motorhome, watched hours of YouTube, and compared towable vehicles.  We ordered a 2015 Subaru Forester which was delivered just days before Chris underwent back surgery and I put in my final day of teaching in the library of Ilalko Elementary in the Auburn School District. (6/19/14)

Our time to deal with the accumulation of 25 years at a single address dwindled quickly, but we are fortunate to have Kyle still living at home and willing to fully manage the household.  Whatever remains undone will have to wait until our first return visit.

Special license plates have been purchased for both vehicles and combine to reflect our attitude and the name of this website!  Yes, I know that we made "Roughin' It" a bit tricky to decipher, but FUN just had to be included in our new branding!

The trip will begin in September 2014 with a leisurely drive and almost a dozen stays along Highway 101 through Washington, Oregon and California.  Then we will cross into Arizona to spend the winter in Casa Grande.   You are invited along for the ride.
